Brief summary:
The aim of this project is to investigate endotoxin-neutralizing mechanisms in human blood. One focus is the influence of the anticoagulation on the effect of endotoxins and on endotoxin-neutralizing factors in blood. Furthermore, Host Defense Peptides (HDPs) will be isolated from human whole blood and their influence on the activity of endotoxins will be investigated. The HDPs will then be characterized with respect to their molar mass.
