NÖ Dorfhelferinnen-
und Dorfhelfer-Stipendium
The role of the Dorfhelferin/Dorfhelfer is diverse. If the farmer is unavailable due to circumstances such as the birth of a child, illness, death, an accident, a spa stay, or convalescence, they can apply to the Office of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government's Department of Agricultural Promotion for the assignment of a village helper. The helper's assignment ensures that the farm does not suffer any financial losses and can continue to be run in an orderly manner.
A special training programme combining home and farm assistance is offered at the Gießhübl Agricultural College and lasts a total of 9.5 months (September to mid-June). Registration requires the completion of vocational training or the 10th grade, as well as reaching the age of 17 by 31 December of the year in which the school year begins.
The area of application covers the entire province of Lower Austria. Alongside theoretical lessons, prospective village helpers undertake practical training at the Mostviertler Bildungshof in Gießhübl, on farms, and in child, youth, and adult care. The training concludes with a final examination.
You can apply for the NÖ Dorfhelferinnen- and Dorfhelfer-Scholarship of €600 per month at any time at: NÖ Dorfhelferinnen und Dorfhelfer-Stipendium
